A retina specialist is a highly trained physician and ophthalmologist who specializes specifically in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions affecting the retina and the vitreous gel in the back of the eye. At Benjamin Eye Institute, we are happy to offer professional retinal services for our patients under the care of Pamela Golchet, M.D., an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of vitreo-retinal diseases.

To have optimal vision, you need a healthy retina. This thin, membranous lining is located at the back of the eye and comprised of cells connected to nerve fibers. These cells allow the light that enters the eye to convert to nerve impulses that eventually reach the brain. At the Benjamin Eye Institute in Los Angeles, we specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of complex conditions that affect this critical structure.

Signs of a problem with your retina

There are a number of signs and symptoms that may indicate a problem with your retina. They include:

  • Floating specks or cobwebs in your vision
  • Eyesight that is blurry or distorted
  • A loss of vision

If you notice any of the above symptoms, it's important to make an appointment to see your eye doctor as soon as possible.
